What the NC State men’s basketball roster looks like after adding news transfers (2025)

N.C. State men’s basketball picked up two more commitments from Power Four players, including one that’s fresh off a Final Four run.

Former Florida State forward Jerry Deng and former Houston guard Terrance Arceneaux announced their commitments to the Wolfpack on Friday, as Will Wade’s first roster continues to take shape.

“Wolfpack nation, let’s work!!” Deng wrote in his announcement. He is expected to have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Arceneaux, who spent three seasons with the Cougars, said he is “100% committed” to N.C. State. Houston Athletics and ESPN list him as a redshirt sophomore, but the NCAA lists his classification as a junior. The N.C. State staff expects him receive a medical redshirt, which would give him two seasons of eligibility. He missed most of his second season due to an injury.

Deng is listed at 6-foot-9 and 225 pounds, providing size and length at the wing position. As a sophomore, he averaged 7 points and 1.9 rebounds per game; he also shot 37% from 3-point range.

Deng scored a season-high 16 points against North Carolina on Feb. 24, where he made four shots from 3-point range. He scored 21 points in the final two games of the season. He opted to transfer following head coach Leonard Hamilton’s retirement.

Deng began his college basketball journey at Hampton University in Virginia, where he averaged 10.1 points and 4.2 rebounds per game for the Pirates while shooting a team-leading 39.1% from 3. He scored in double figures 16 times, including a career-high 37 points against Mary Baldwin.

Deng is considered one of the better transfers in this class, earning a four-star rating by 247Sports and a Top 50 ranking among power forwards. As a high school recruit, he was a two-star prospect.

Originally from Rochester, New York, Deng played high school basketball in Georgia. He received offers from Akron, Georgia State, Mercer, East Carolina, Florida International and Georgetown as a high school recruit.

He was an All-State Honorable Mention selection as a high school player and All-Region Team selection. Deng helped Norcross High School win the 2023 Georgia state championship after contributing 14 points, 12 rebounds and two blocked shots.

Wolfpack adds Arceneaux

Arceneaux committed to the Wolfpack roughly two hours after Deng on Friday afternoon after spending three seasons with Houston. He is listed at 6-foot-6 and 205 pounds. According to 247Sports, Arceneaux is a four-star transfer and ranks just outside the Top 25 for small forwards. However, he can also play at the guard position.

He averaged 6.5 points and 2.7 rebounds in his junior season with the Cougars. He appeared in 40 games last season and started in six.

Arceneaux finished the 2024-25 campaign with his best overall numbers, building on his first two seasons. He contributed 259 points, 109 rebounds, 29 assists, 12 blocks and 37 steals. He also shot 44.3% from the field and 33.7% from the perimeter.

The junior played minimal minutes in the Cougars’ Final Four run, but he contributed 11 total rebounds and 28 points. He scored eight points against No. 2 seed Tennessee to help Houston earn its spot in the Final Four.

Arceneaux pulled down four rebounds in the Cougars’ comeback win over Duke to help his team advance to the national championship.

In his three years with the Big 12 program, Arceneaux averaged 5.2 points and 2.9 rebounds in 85 games played.

The junior hails from Beaumont, Texas, where he helped Beaumont United to two consecutive stat championships and earned Most Outstanding Player in the state tournament his senior year. He was the All-State MVP his junior year after helping his team to the state title and a 31-0 record.

As a high school recruit, he was listed as a four-star prospect and the No. 4 player in the state. He received offers from programs, including Texas A&M, LSU, TCU, Baylor and Texas. First-year N.C. State head coach Wade was over the LSU program when Arceneaux was being recruited.

The Wolfpack has now added six transfers to its incoming roster. Deng and Arceneaux are the second and third transfers in the past 24 hours after Raleigh native Colt Langdon announced his transfer intentions Thursday.

N.C. State is listed at No. 31 in the 247Sports transfer rankings and No. 25 in its overall recruiting for the upcoming year. When comparing the Pack to the rest of the ACC, it ranks No. 6 in its transfer ranking and No. 8 overall.

Wade previously said he focuses on player retention and hopes to get to a point where the program adds three or four players out of the portal each season, with one or two freshmen. The rest would be players within the program. However, he acknowledged the first few years would be portal heavy.

With nine scholarship players committed or signed, the Pack still has six available. Walk-on Jordan Snell is expected to return.
